Reisbord AZA and BBG #63 held Jewish Olympics! We had it at the Merfish Teen Center. We started with a Havdalah and re-enacted the torch lighting that they do in the Olympics with the candle at the end of the service to put it out. After, we split teams up into four different groups and the games began. Here are the events we did:

Event 1 - Hurdle Trivia Race - In this event, each team lined up about 10 to 15 feet from each other, and at the start the first person in line ran to the next person, and when they get there they had to answer a trivia question relating to Jewish History, they must have answered correctly in order for the next person to go, the first team to finish won the round.

Event 2 - Bottle on Head Race - In this event, we did a spin-off of the typical “spoon with the egg” race, instead, each group member had to balance a bottle on their head through a track, if the bottle fell, they had to start over. The first team to have all of their members finish won that round.

Event 3 - Ball Toss - In this event,  we did the same thing as an egg toss, without the eggs. Each team selected two people to participate, and before they started, each player received an impairment that they had to pretend to have while participating. This was a reference to Olympians with disabilities. The last team to have not dropped the ball won that round.

Event 4 - Rock, Paper, Scissors Battle Royal - Each group selected one person to play in a game of Rock Paper Scissors, they had face each other, and when one of them lost, they had to turn around and run to a drawn mark, the person who won, had to chase after them to try to tag them. If they did not tag them before making it to the line, then they had to play again, the first one to be tagged lost. Once their were two winners, they had face each other to decide who wins the event.

Event 5 - Jello Jousting - In this final event, the teams choose one person from their team to participate. Each person participating received a plastic spoon, and a pack of jello, the jello was placed on top of the spoon and each team would have their team member face off against the other team’s member, and they would “joust.” The point was to knock the jello off the opponents spoon, once two people won, they faced off to decide who would win that round.

After the events were all done, we calculated the point totals from all of the team’s, the winner of ever round received 3 points, second place got 2 points, and third place got 1 point, while the last place team got 0 points for that event. After all the points were totaled, the winner was announced.

Supplies Needed - Jello, Plastic Spoons, Batons, Impairment Card, Jewish History Trivia Questions,  Bottles, Tennis Balls.

    Submitter's Suggestions:

Always meet in person to get everything figured out in detail regarding the events.
